I am here to accompany you on a holistic therapeutic journey based on the deep connection between body and mind.
Hello, I’m Emmeleia Schiza, a Health Visitor and Somatic Psychotherapist. I provide psychotherapeutic support to pre-adolescents, adolescents, and adults online. My therapeutic approach combines Reichian Somatic Psychotherapy (Character Analysis, Vegetotherapy, and Bioenergetics) as well as Gestalt therapy, focusing on the deep connection between body and mind.
I believe that the body acts as a mirror of the psyche and that emotional trauma manifests physically, affecting our overall balance. Through the therapeutic process, emphasis is placed both on verbal processing and on working with bodily symptoms, aiming to regulate the nervous system and restore inner balance.
My therapeutic approach is based on empathy, respect for each individual’s uniqueness, and a deep understanding of the interaction between body and psyche. I view the individual as an integrated whole, where thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and experiences coexist and influence one another.
My theoretical background draws from somatic psychotherapy, Reichian character analysis and vegetotherapy, bioenergetic analysis, and Gestalt therapy. At the core of these approaches lies the understanding that psychological experiences and defense mechanisms are not expressed only cognitively and emotionally, but are also embodied through chronic tensions and patterns of posture and behavior.
Within this framework, special emphasis is placed on the role of the autonomic nervous system and the importance of balance between activation and relaxation. Disruption of this balance can lead to psychosomatic difficulties, while its restoration enhances vitality and internal coherence.
The therapeutic process is not limited to verbal work, but also includes body awareness, breathing, and experiential exploration in the “here and now.” Through this process, individuals are encouraged to recognize their defenses, connect with deeper aspects of themselves, and reconnect with their authentic needs.
The goal is the gradual release of chronic tension, the enhancement of self-awareness and personal responsibility, and the restoration of the free flow of energy in the body. In this way, a more authentic relationship with oneself and others is supported, self-esteem is strengthened, and overall mental and physical well-being is promoted.
